Default Headlight Problem

I have a problem with my passenger side headlight. It does not come up by itself. I replaced the motor and this did not resolve the issue. When I turn the headlights on the lights come on both left and right side. The Driver's side headlight assembly raises but the passenger's side stays down. I do hear a faint click sound from the right side when I turn on the headlights. I am wondering if this is the actuator. Do I need to replace this as well?

Thank you for your help on this.

Anyone out there with any ideas for this? I can't seem to find a thread with this same issue here. Most threads are to replace the gear. I replaced the motor so that rules the gear out. I want to make sure it is the actuator first before I spend the $$$ and then find out the actuator is not the problem. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thank you

Don't know if this will help or not since I didn't replace the whole motor; but after I replaced the gear on mine I found that the actuator nut would work itself loose after a while and the headlight wouldn't go up. After re-tightening it, it would be fine for about a week or two and then would loosen up enough for the problem to repeat. I finally put a star lockwasher on it and that seems to have solved the problem.

Is the actuator nut the one in the middle? I have it tight. I didn't want to strip it out so it is not torqued down extra tight. I can raise the headlight manually with the **** on top of the motor by the way.

The clicking you are hearing is likely the headlight control module firing to open the doors. It's located under the passenger headlight bolted to the front of the wheel well. It does have internal relays to control the left and right motors separately, however before we assume that's the problem let's check a few things.

If you raise the headlight manually partually, does it open the rest of the way when you then turn the switch ON? If not then check the next steps. If yes, then the motor may be closing too tightly preventing the headlight control module from opening it. Try spraying some white lithium grease between the manual **** and the motor housing to minimize the tightness.

If you look at the wiring connector behind the passenger headlight you'll see 5 wires. The LIght Blue and Dark Blue control the motor. If you disconnect the connector and momentarily apply +12V to the Light Blue and ground the Dark blue on the headlight side of the connector then the motor should raise (don't leave the voltage on continuously - just enough to test the motor). That confirms that the motor works.

Also if you measure the voltage of those two pins on the engine side of the connector both should be +12V when the switch is OFF (net voltage of 0V across them). That confirms that the headlight control module has normal connectivity to the motor. If one of these pins is not +12V, then there is either a problem with the control module or possible a broken wire in the connector, or the connector at the control module side is not seated. Try unplugging and replugging. If you ohm out the wiring from both ends and there is no open in it, then the control module likely needs to be replaced.
