Last night I was driving home from the shore and all of a sudden my wipers started to go ?? I fliped the wiper switch on and off a few times with no effect on the wipers.when they Finnaly stoped they where in the middle of the windsheild. I turned on the switch again and they would not move. Than a few miles down the road they started going on thier own again...Has anyone else had this problem ? and if so can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Oh and sorry Iam new to the site I have been visiting here for about 3 months now ever since I bought my 2003 50th vette. And I am very impressed with the info and politeness of the members of the site . Thanks again.
easiest thing to do is pull down the left side knee bolster and disconnect the wiper switch,if the wipers stop working the switch is bad,if they still keep going either the wiper harness is shorted to power somewhere[unlikely]or the motor cover is bad[likely]
What gets me is it was not raining so there for I was not useing the wipers they just came on by them selfs. And they did it intermitenly all the way home.So I dont understand how the switch would cause this?
I remember reading on this board sometime in the past about a similiar problem, and one of the common causes according to at least one poster, are the drains getting plugged and water shorting the wiper wiring out.
