C 5 intermittently overheats/

Anybody have experience with this problem: my 2003 anniversary intermittently overheats, even on the coldest of days. Not constant. Strong coolant odor in heat vents when this happens. Dealer absolutely been of no help. Is this a warped head?

What (if any) are the other symptoms? Steam in the exhaust? Loosing coolant? Have you had the motor apart? Water in the oil? Leaking onto the ground?

i had a similar problem, car when started from cold would go all the way to overheating very quickly...heater would not work either...I checked many things but after cleaning the ac lines the problem seemed to go away...I cant say this was the fix for sure since i had also checked the water pump and thermostat....And added new coolant...

If you are not losing coolant then could be a stuck thermostat????? I am sure others will chime in too with some ideas. Process of elimination. Start with the cheapest first.

Definitely sounds like a faulty thermostat.
