Battery on 2001
I was told by the dealer that the 2001 has the gel battery. GM was trying it on the Vet for use on other cars. They showed me the battery.
Has anyone else heard this?

Gel batteries have been around for a long time. As mentioned, what was new in 2001 was the AGM (except I thought it stood for advanced glass mat) technology. The advantage is less weight.
Some people with early 2001's reported problems. The first few weeks supply was shipped to the BG factory without a charge and a large number were installed before the problem was identified. This meant there was a lot of battery chargeing and jump starting going on around the factory for a while.
FWIW, my AGM battery has performed flawlessly.

So, how can you distinguish between the AGM battery from the "Gel" battery? :confused:

The older batteries have a "geen eye" and 600CCA.
The new ones (AGM) have no eye and only 500CCA.
That's pretty pathetic for CCA's in the new ones. A typical guide to use is 2x cubic inches your motor is.
LS1=346CI. Battery SHOULD be 692CCA.
I would go out and get a more powerful battery...
