Ok i was driving my 98 C5 last night then all of the sudden the dash lights went out and rear tail lights. But the headlights work and brake lights.. But when i try to turn off the head lights they go off but they dont go down now.. Could it be the multifunction switch? I kinda looked at the fuses but havnt really checked them all.. What do you guys think
More than likely it is the switch inside your turnsignal lever. The unit needs to be replaced with a newr model, and is a real PITA. These tend to have a intermittent problem especially in colder weather. I have ths problem during the colder months and never in the warmer months. One night I just gripped my hand around the signal lever for about ten minutes to warm it up and then it worked just fine. Hope this helps!

May I suggest that you make sure that that is indeed the problem, those little bastards are expensive and labour intensive. My MF switch is toast so I have to use the twillight sentinel feature for the time being, I'm dreading the replacement costs. Good luck.
The multi stalk switch u canget from AutoZone threw there website for 99.00. I bought one and installed it my self in about hour or so! Ill be glad to help you with install questions if u have any!
So those switches go dead out of no where? I was just driving along and it just went out and wouldn't go back on no matter how much i banged on the switch... Well i hope that is the problem. I dont see how 1 fuse would tie in the whole lights even the pop up light motors..
Found a blown fuse and now they work but there is a problem, my tail lights flicker and then go out but the dash lights stay on. So i wonder if there is a bad ground or a short or bad bulb?

There is only one ground on the bulbs, but two +12v (one for the running lights, one for the brake). If the brake lights don't flicker off, then the ground is good. If it doesn't blow your fuse again, then the +12v lines aren't shorted. Check for bad +12v running light connection to bulbs. A little WD-40 on all connectors kills a lot of elect. buggies.
Yea found a brown wire under the dash that goes from the multi function switch to the main wiring has been getting hot and melted the coating on the wire.. I noticed my taillights work for about 1/2 hr then they go out and that wire starts buring again. Do ya guys think i got a short somwhere

melting wires is not good. Far too much current. Yes, it's shorted. Pull the fuse out and do a continuity test between the burned up wire and ground. Should be no continuity.
-If there is, replace the wire. Cut the wire at the switch and splice a new wire to the fuse box.
-If there isn't, pull the light bulbs out of the sockets and do a continuity check from the other side of the fuse, to ground. Should be none. If there is SOME but not zero, you may still have a bulb plugged in.
After rewiring the damaged wires underneath didin't fix the problem, Found the problem in the rear, that bundle of wires was against the exhuast and burned through and caused a short. Finnaly fixed it...
