park your car on a level surface, inside your garage works well.

drive up until you're about 3 feet from the front wall.

looking at the hotspot in the cutoff, measure from the ground to the top of the hotspot.

start with 25.5 inches from the ground as your max height. any higher and you're pointing into the windshield of most cars.

if your car is lowered, you may find that your lights will be lower than 25". my cutoff is about 24-24.5 because i sit lower than stock.

drive around at night thru your neighborhood. since these lights have a razor sharp cutoff, it's very easy to see where the light is. if your lights are cutting off below the windshields and windows of the cars you pass by, you will be fine.

congrats on getting the finest lighting system available for the C5! post some pics if you can.

Big thanks JD.... Isn't nice to have just a simple solution sometimes. Without having to stand on your head and looking backwards using three hands Again I say thanks! Have a great day

Just read your response to this post. Thanks for the great tip! I have be having problems with finding the right height/adjustment. I am also experiencing a flicking of the HID lights while driving. Any ideas? Is this a normal occurence given the razor sharp beam.

since i already PM'd you, I'll go ahead and post what i wrote to you in case anyone else has this same issue (i'm sure they do).

I think there are 2 issues. The first one is that the HID housings weigh somewhere around 3.5lbs each and the stockers were about 1.8

This extra dangling weight is probably pushing what the stock setup was designed to deal with.

The second issue is, in fact the razor sharp cutoff. I am certian that the stock headlights do the same sort of jigle, but it was never noticed before because they were so washed out and unfocused.

I took apart my housings and modified the linkage. You will find that there is TONS of wiggle when you have the housings fully opened. The wiggle is in the pin that is on the lever that raises the housings. if the pin was just *that* much bigger, it would not wiggle.

I tried jamming a small cotter pin in with the pin, it would not stay...it was too big. I managed to get a small zip tie wedged in with the pin. That helped somewhat, but I was still unhappy.

I ended up pulling the pin completely and moving the acutator arm around a bit. I dont remember exactly how i did it, because it was a while ago.

My best suggestion for you is to take the bezel and lamp door cover off and find the where it wiggles and attempt to get it to stop. It takes some time and enginuity, but you will be able to get about 75% of the jiggle out of the lights.
