Beyond that the proven DIY method of throw new parts at the problem.
Out of no where, and maybe a coinsidence, my car started stalling, and when you go to put the car into gear it stalls. Everything else so far is checkinng ouut ok. I'm just doing a little process of elimination. Someone mentioned that I may have a bad MAS, or a bad MAF... And I don't want to turn myself into a parts chaser. I want to fix it right. I'm trying to find sommeone here in Houston who is GOOD with C5 Corvettes.
with the motor off, unplug the maf.start the car,if it runs the maf is bad.if the car starts/runs fine in p or n but stalls as soon as you put in r or d,sounds like a converter clutch problem[stuck/shorted solenoid].if it's almost stalling i'd look at a dirty throttle housing/air leak, etc

I thought our cars have VE table/SD/MAP so that they do still run if the MAF fails.........

DH
they do, except if the SD parameters haven't been modified to accomodate other than stock configurations, then it will not run well at all. The factory VE airflow model will flood the low end fueling for sure, especially on a big cube/big mod motors and make for some crappy driving, if at all. Also, if you're 01-04, you can't necessarily just unplug the MAF since the IAT sensor is intergrated into the unit, IATs are vital to SD fuel calculations.

This sounds correct and jives with my limited knowledge
It doesn't make sence to say "if you unplug the MAF and the car still runs then the MAF is bad." I thought that if you unplgged it, the car wouldn't run well at all. Right?
if you unplug the maf normally the engine will stumble at idle, it will normally still run but you have to keep some gas on it to keep it running .....and if the maf is bad you will throw a code ....i think its code P0103 for a bad mass air signal ....as for the map sensor you can test the voltages on it although i dont have the actual voltages that they should be but you should be able to find them online somewhere
