Default Just wondering.....

Why is it forbidden to speak of any kind of "street race" when all anyone ever talks about here is making a fast car faster by doing all kinds of illegal mods? Seems strange to me. No I do not street race my C5, but I'd hesitate to do some of the mods touted here too, (like remove the cats etc). Not looking to argue, just curious. Chuck.

Aside from cat removal, what illegal mods are talked about here? Keep in mind, many cars on the forum are essentally track only cars.

Street racing is what gives performance cars in general a bad name. Everytime a Corvette is in an accident on the freeway the media makes an issue out of the fact it was a Corvette no matter the cause of the accident. The more time I spend on the track, the more danger I see in street racing. A little spirited driving on the other hand - well you've got to take advantage of what you have occasionally.

It's all about the money! It's the money from the vendors that pay for the hosting and pay the owner(s) of this site. If not for the money paid by the vendors and supporters, then the bill would have to be flipped by the owner(s) and he probably would not like to do that alone, since there are many members who post many more pictures which in turn uses up a lot of website space and bandwidth from other users.

And to add to that, the supporters that are paying the owner(s) are for the most part also making a living by selling their parts or services, so if something was to happen, ... (like street racing) when they just installed a new Maggie on their C5, someone else's mom or somthing might say it was the vendors fault that my son was racing and or lost his license or worst yet got into a terrible accident. (because she might have read here about the never talk about "street racing" thread and his new extra 125 HP from his new Maggie.)

I think it is like the Bar owner and them being responsible for their patrons who leave their business and get into an accident, I do not think that is fair, for the most part either.

Same goes for guns, guns do not kill people, people kill people.

But basically it's all about the money, I'm sure that the vendors and maybe the owner(s) do not want to seem like they are promoting street racing in any way shape or manner. (like anyone of us here at this forum knows any different, do you know that street racing is illegal? Does Joe, does Sam, does Ron, yes they all do.)

We all have to remember that it is the Vendors that run this site, they pull the strings. And they do not want to be held liable, for participating in, or talking about illegal matters. But they'll sell you a 150 shot of nitrious kit to add to the 300-400 HP that you already have

I'm not here to argue this point, it is just my opinion, and nothing else, I own many websites and have for many years, so I know how this game is played.
