Default LS7 clutch hydraulics

Thought I read previously that in early C5's if you install a LS7 clutch you need to change out the master and slave cylinder's to a newer version.

I did some searching and can't seem to find that again. I have a 99 FRC and just orderd my LS7 clutch kit from Fred Beans. Do I need to change out the slave and master cylinders?

Thanks,

Rich

I changed the slave unit because I was in there. On the C5 Z06 you have to use the LS6 slave with the LS7 clutch.

What about the non-Z06 LS1 cars? Will the LS1 slave work? or does it need to be the LS6 slave (are they even different?)

You do not want to use the older slave units ('01 & older). All '02 & newer C5 & C5 06 use the same slave. I just ordered a new one because mine is sticking in my '01. Got it from GM Direct, $100 and also adding the bleeder extensions from LAPD for $85. Will make the call on the clutch when I get it out.

Is the following news to people?

I understand from a few searches that for the LS7 clutch (installed in a C5) to have the stock pedal height a shim may be required?

Quote;
"The fix for LS7 CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL in a C-5 is - .1875 shim behind the slave cylinder."

I have no idea if this is with a particular year slave or not...
Something to check perhaps...

This is likely my next mod/purchase so I am very interested if anyone has the experience with this particular issue.

I added a Cartek adjustable master to the LS7 setup I had on my 346. I found the engagement a little low for my taste.

Turns out I needed one for the RAM DD I'm now running in the 402.
