Default front end alignment

I have a 2000 coupe, the inside edges of the the front tires are wearing. The car was aligned a about 7,000 miles ago, aprox. one yr. Should I have it realigned to factory specs, or is there a better spec?

I just replaced my tires -- the inside of each front tire was worn to threads, but the outside was still slightly above the wear marks. After I got the new tires, I got the car aligned and the tech said that it was not very far off. I described the tire wear and he said that is a normal indication of under-inflation.

What you experienced is wear from excessive camber. If you do primarily highway driving, have it aligned for 0 camber, front and rear. A little heavier steering, but no tire wear.

If you still have EMTs, they are very sensitive to alignments due to their stiff side walls. I would get your alignment checked and insure that they align as close to nominal specs as possible. My experience with alignment shops has been very bad. I have reverted to adjusting my alignment myself with excellent results. Takes time but at $300+ a tire was worth it!

If you have the EMT's, even the 1/4 degree of neg camber that GM recommends will give the wear you describe. Reset the camber to (0) degrees, which is within GM's specs., and your wear troubles will go away. Been running mine that way for 8 years now.

Depends on whether you've adjusted your ride height or not!
