Hi guys, yes the Hurst shifter will fit all 6 speed C5s, like the other aftermarket shifters. The info sheet above is from late '00, and I now edited it be current. thanks,
Have always been a fan of Hurst shifters....please add me to your email list of info on the production release of the shifter for my '02 Z06! When available, do you know if/where I can purchase one in the Detroit area?
Zippy- This Hurst shifter will be available at any performance retailer that sells Hurst / Mr. Gasket products.
Cliff- Yeah I saw yesterday that the older prices of Summit/Jegs were $169.99 + their handling fees. I expect that to increase after release as it did for the C4, since Jobber is $195.
zrchris--
Please e-mail me when the Hurst shifter is available for sale & if there will be any vendors in So. Calif.
Thanks,
Bob e-mail: francesnbob@aol.com
Hi Chris! I recieved your reply & can hardly wait! I've had my new shift **** for 2 months now....waiting....I hope it's worth it! All Hurst products have always done me right!....now if I can find the installation post! :D :flag :seeya
Hi guys, just an update- I now have three Gen 2 prototypes, already kicked one out to Collin, and will install one myself this afternoon. If it looks good, we'll give production the go-ahead on Monday.
Based on the description put forth by Hurst, it seems as though the ripper will continue to offer the shortest throw when compared to stock (40% vs. 25%), is this true?
Thanks.
VetterMan
Are you giving product demos to fellow Atlantians?;)
Couple of things- First, Collin- no pressure, just when you get a chance. I'm installing the other two before this weekend, one this afternoon.
VetterMan- The Kirban I think is the shortest, and I believe the B&M is just slightly shorter than the Hurst. I re-examined the Hurst and the reduction over factory is actually dead on 35%. I changed the text in that pic to 25% based on incorrect estimates, which I have now corrected.
As far as demos, I don't own a C5, just a ZR1- if you had a C4 I'm always available for demos of that shifter. And actually all C5 units that were in my possession are about to be in cars- there are three with the Hurst around Atlanta- one with a Phase 1 that I can no longer trace... Email me privately with the area you live in and I'll see if one of the new guys is near you and willing to show it. thanks,
First, I edited the post above to reflect the true throw reduction of the Hurst unit, it is dead on 35%.
I did one Gen 2 install last night. Went pretty well, we have a couple small changes to make for the production run, nothing major. Finally I actually drove this one- the effort and short throw are really as far as I would go. I really can't see that anyone would want it shorter. And the shorter handle height seems about perfect for comfort. The adjustable interchangable springs are a big advantage in getting the feel you prefer.
I'll be doing one more install over the weekend, but all looks good to go, production should begin on Monday!
Chris is talking about my Vette that he drove last Wednesday night. Again all I can say is I would not change a thing. It shifts perfect. Great feel, very little vibration (especially using the stock shift ****). My 115lb girlfriend even drove with it over 250 miles this morning with no complaints(standard springs).
