My window still works, but when it is going up and down I hear a grinding noise from inside the door panel. It only grinds when the window is mostly down in the door panel. My guess is its the motor. Anyone had this problem?
Mine started doing that and after a couple of weeks the window would only go down about a quarter of the way. The window regulator was binding and I had it replaced and that cleared the problem.
I pulled apart the door and removed the window motor and regulator assembly. There is a blue plastic piece that guides the wire into the motor that is broken. The wire itself also seems to be badly kinked in a couple spots. The motor is fine, I hooked it up and used it without the regulator attached and it did not grind. So I imagine the grind was coming from the kinked wire. Parts guy told me I have to buy a whole new regulator assembly and can't just replace broken parts. Its going to be cold as **** driving to work in the morning with no window. Its so sad.
GM wants $339 for motor and regulator assembly, $275 for regulator only.
There is a place called South Florida Window Lift that sells a rebuilt motor and regulator assembly for $125!
