About a quarter of a quart maybe a little more if you are using the stock 6.5 quart change. I pre-fill my filters before installing them. I use 7 quarts when I change oil on my 02Z. I find it puts the oil at the top of the full mark. Put the new filter on and run the car. Checking for leaks. Let sit for an hour or so, and check the stick. You should not have to add much to bring it to the full level. (You will not hurt anything with extra oil) Z's can hold up to 8 without problems) Good move on the filter switch. Even the stock one is better rated then the Fram series. Don

When I change just the filter, I have found that I use about a half quart, filling the new filter with oil and using the rest of the half quart to bring the oil level back to the full line on the dipstick.

I am sure this filter is just fine..... some say loss of a few PSI.... I went the sale route at autozone and got the fram... usually run the K&N... so just a peace of mind for me... No issues i am sure....
