Default Clutch problems again ...

I went to the drag strip tonight & blew my Star Stage III Carbon clutch on my first pass. I went to launch @ 2.2k RPM's and heard a loud pop. The car goes in gear. There is clutch pressure. When I release the clutch and the car is in gear it acts like it's in neutral. Any ideas what broke? Nothing was leaking. Here we go again. Wish I bought an A4.

Sounds more like a driveline breakage than a clutch problem. Any noise when it "feels like it is in neutral"?

Do you use ET street's? If so you might have broken the trans output shaft or the left side inner axle stub.

It doesn't sound like a clutch issue to me.

My guess would be the input shaft on your transmission or something to do with the torque shaft. If it was the rear-end I think you would be hearing some grinding when you let the clutch out. If it was the clutch, I think the care would either make horrible noises when you let the clutch out, or it would sort of edge forward. Also, if it was a half-shaft, you would know right away when you heard it trying to spin when you either rolled the car, or let the clutch out.

Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

I had drag radials mounted on the car when I launched.

Sounds like you broke the hub of the SPEC disc. The disc should be warrantied. I did this to a Z06 disc once.

It's VERY hard to strip the splines or break our driveshaft. I've never heard of that on a C5 yet. I was worried about that when mine went, but was not the case. Hydraulics worked ok. Would engage 'til 2000-2500rpm, then it'd start clashing metal to metal and slip off completely.

SPEC discs are supposed to have a hardened disc hub...

C5 YA , Did you have any wheel hope? If so, you may have broke a left inner axle. all you have to do is, jack up the rear and see if both rear tires turn together. I have done it,did it. Hope this helps. Capt1Mike

No wheel hop. The car's nose went up and then down. I must have moved about 6 inches or so.

If I jack up my rear end and spin one wheel, the other wheel should spin also, right? If not then it might be my rear end?

I jacked up the car and turned each wheel. Only one wheel turns @ a time. Normally, both should turn.
