I had a "new" torque tube installed along with aluminum couplers, a spec II clutch disc, and new slave cylinder. I am still getting a vibration in the shifter through the higher rpm's, is this normal with the solid couplers? Also the spec II clutch with stock pressure plate seems to chatter and shake the whole car if you dont "launch" it everytime you take off! One last thing is that even with the new Z06 slave cylinder the clutch seems to go limp, what gives?!?
i have the same issues with a spec stg 3 clutch i do not have the vibration problems but the chatter when i take off in 1st gear is the same did u get yours fixed and what did u do to fix it .
I've always heard you want at least 1 rouble couper to allow for some driveline vibration absorbance.
As for clutches... these cars can be fickle... sometimes the motor's are not perfetly balanced and at final testing GM will install a slightly off balanced flywheel/pressure plate assembly to account for this.
Then.... when you install a new zero balanced aftermarket unit you get vibes. This happened to me... so I took my stock stuff to a local machine shop and had it spun up to see if I had one of the off balanced short-blocks.
Turns out my stock pressure plate/flywheel was 8 grams out... so they matched my new flywheel/pp to that and I re-installed... now all is perfect.
But... it took lots of research on here, lots of calls to tuners, and more time/pain in the *** to learn and get it right.
There's a centering procedure that has to be performed on the Torque Tube anytime it is removed and reinstalled on the car. I’ve lost the instructions but from memory, you take the inspection plate off and loosen the allen wrench screw (may have to bump the starter) start the engine and let the drive train spin, he Torque Tube will automatically re-center itself. Shut it down and tighten it up….
Somewhere on here are the instructions with some pics, if that didn’t make sense…. I found it;
