I bought my '00 coupe mn6 a few months ago. It has now turned about 52K miles. Would you recommend any service in addition to transmission fluid change and rear diff change. Would you also recommend a tune up? Thanks in advance for any help.
I'd do exactly what your owners manual declares. If unsure if it's been serviced properly- do it! My 2000 has 52K on it and I've changes all the fluids including the brake fluid within the past few months. In the Spring I'll have the fuel system cleaned--plugs don't need changing for many more miles assuming it running fine. I did all this because I have no records of the service on the car and for a few hundred bucks it makes good sence to me. Good luck, Ron
Assuming you don't know what maintenance has been done to the car (with the exception of changing the oil), I'd flush/replace every fluid on the car, including the brakes and clutch.
The clutch fluid can be changed out by sucking the old fluid out with a turkey baster or old-school battery bulb, put some fresh in, do that about three times over a week and you'll have gotten most of the old stuff out (fresh fluid is denser than old, water-saturated fluid).
Other than that, I wouldn't do anything to the car except drive her! I'm about to click over 150K, and I'm going to treat my baby to a new set of plugs and valve springs.
If by flushing the radiator you mean remove and replace, I think that's overkill. I'd just drain out what you can (LS-1 drain plugs are almost impossible to get to), then refill with fresh.
It's not the miles that you need to be thinking of, but the fact that your car (like mine) is seven years old or so.
Mine had 36 k when I got it. After another year I decided the coolant was SHOT. Drained and flushed with clean water. Removed the overflow tank and flushed out a lot of slime. Added ned Dexcool at 50/50 with water and she was good to go. A few dollars NOW saves hundreds or thousands LATER. BIGHANK
