I have replaced the factory air box on two C5's and I don't remember 3 bolts holding it on. I do remember there are two studs that hold the air box on at the front crossmember. The box just pushes on to the studs and is a little snug when trying to remove. It just takes a really hard tug to get it off in a rearward motion. If you look down in front of the hood when the hood is up you can see where I mean. I hope you've first removed the throttle body, MAF sensor and air bridge. It will be easier that way.

Default Airbox Removal

Get the MAF housing and airbridge out of the car and give the remaining airbox a good yank towards the throttle body. Only held in place by two rubber grommets over studs mounted on the front crossmember.

I had to remove mine to install a gasket on the inside for a K&N filter. Here's the instructions that I used:

1. Unplug the IAT sensor cable.
2. Unplug the MAF sensor cable.
3. Pop the fuel regulator pressure sensor hose out of the air duct.
3. Disconnect the inlet hose from the air box that goes to the air pump.
4. Loosen the hose clamp that connects the corrugated inlet tube to the
throttle body.
5. Pop the assembly up off of the two rubber bushings you see on top of and
behind the radiator.
6. Wiggle the air box backwards toward the rear of the car and it will pop
off of 2 similar bushings.
7. Remove the entire assembly.

dont be afraid of the car, give it a good tug. My biggest problem was being afraid of breaking something. Good luck

make sure the rubber grommets come off of the studs.i fought with this for a while when i did my new z06 airbox.i discovered the rubber grommets were still on the studs. once i pulled them off what a breeze to do then.......just do not be afraid to tug and push hard to remove the old airbox........

This should help:

There are no bolts. Just carefully unsnap the airbox from the front frame crossmember but be careful not to lose the 2 gromets. Same with the airbridge, remove but pulling from the 2 pegs. Silicone will make reassembly easier.
