Default A/C issues

I cannot find anything in search for this so sorry if the question has been answered.

Any way he is the issue.
1. Driver side blows only hot air.
2. Passenger side blows luke warm to slightly cool air depending on what side the passenger side thermostat is set. it will also vary depending on what temp the main thermostat is set for.

The temp will not change on the driver side no matter what i do. not bad for right now b/c of winter but bad in summer.

little bit of help. does it look like i have a trip to the stealership in the future.

Sounds like you just need a charge.

Go to Advance or likewise and get a recharge can. Very easy to do. If the system is completely out you can get a $15 vac pump and pull vac, find the leak if necessary, repair and recharge.

You can get a can of recharge for less than $20.

First, the "Passenger Side Thermostat" is not a thermostat in the sense that it does not set an absolute temp, but rather an offset +/- 5F from the main temperature setting (biases the passenger side slightly cooler or warmer).

If you set your main temp to 60F (Min) what does your driver's and passenger side vents blow? Assume no A/C and outside temp is cold (~ 30F).

If your driver's side is still hot and your passenger side is cold, then the problem is the airflow mix actuator in your HVAC ducts that controls the warm/cold air mix to provide the desired temp. Since the driver's side and passenger side doors are independent in the Auto (Dual Zone) HVAC, your driver's side is likely stuck at the warm setting and the passenger side is operating normally. The stuck door is a common problem caused by the electric actuator motor controlling it.

You can try to reset the system by removing power and letting the HVAC reset - it will move it's doors to calibrate the full open/close limits. If the actuator is bad and really stuck, then you'll need to have it replaced.

I will try to disconnect the battery.

the above is what is going on. passenger side gets cold and warm. but driver does not.
-likly will not hurt to top it off either

Do NOT charge the system without first knowing the problem.

While it's possible that's all it needs, I would say that more than likely there is a problem with one of the actuators.

The last thing you want to do is overcharge the system.

Default hot air

might help also note that people report the same issues when there is a vacuum leak in one of the small plastic hoses feeding the system. This usually occurs after a battery has leaked.

Usually though, this will result in the direction of the airflow not being diverted correctly (ie. air blowing on feet when it's set to blow out dash vents). Still though, very good point as those acid eaten vacuum lines are common (ask me how I know.. )
