Default stock C5 tires

I need new wheels/tires and my question is this. Should I stay with the stock size on my 99 or can I go to 245 x 45 x 17 in the fronts and 295 x 35 x 18 in the rear? I am not sure why I have been looking for larger sizes other then the fact that a member suggested that to me if I was to get all new wheels/tires I should get larger tires. For some reason I like the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval or the Kuhmo MX's. I think they are in my budget primarily. I am getting aftermarket z06 chrome wheels from either House of Wheels or an outfit out of Texas that is on the Corvette Garage forum.
Any suggestions. I have been searching for a cpuple of weeks.
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
Dean

The Z06 Chromies will really set your car off. Should be beautiful!!

Can't comment on the size question but your wheel selection is right on

If you are going to go to Z06 repos you might as well go to Z06 wheel sizes, then get the stock Z06 tire sizes. Z06 wheels are one inch wider than C5, 9.5x17 front and 10.5x18 rear. Stock tire sizes for the Z06 are 265/40-17 front and 295/35-18 rear. The only downside is that there is a smaller selection of tires in those sizes.

A big question is do you want to stay with the safety and security of runflats. If you don't care, then you have lots more tire choices.

Seeing how I only drive the car 3500 miles or so a year i am not real concerned about a flat. I realize one could happen at any time and it is wiser to have run-flats, they are too pricey for my budget. thanks for your reply.
