When I got my 97 coupe a few months ago it had a rear engine seal leak. I removed the driveline and replaced the seal and housing gasket. The clutch was well used but appeared to still have alot of life in it, so I stuck it back in and put the car back together.. everything was fine... until I was practicing my launches for an upcoming track trip.
Any clutch abuse caused the pedal to stick to the floor. I replaced the clutch master cylinder and things were better, at least the pedal didn't stick to the floor, but any clutch abuse caused (upon stepping on the pedal after clutch abuse) what I can only describe as "half clutch" ability. Sometimes I could get it out of first and into second, usually not. After a few pumps, it would be back to normal.
I flushed the system with high temp (500) fluid with no noticable difference. I then replaced the slave, It now seems to be a little better, but still getting the "half clutch" problem.
I'm getting ready to pull the drive train again to replace the clutch.
My questions are:
Will the new clutch fix this problem?
If so, what exactly is this clutch doing that is causing this problem?
