Guys on th c5 vette how do you acess the upper bolts hoding the torque tube to the transmission, do you let the whole assembly tilt down forcing the engine to tilt backwards, given all exhaust componens have been removed along with the center backbone plate that has like 100 screws. Also where are you suppposed to remove the transmission cooling lines from, hopefully no from the rany is there like a coupler in theline somewhere thats easy to access? this is for a torque conveter replacement
thanks,
Ralph

you have to unbolt the rear x-member and like you said tilt the tube down then you can get to the top bolts. The lines go into the trans take two wrenches hold the fitting and one on the trans line and you good to go.
Find Forum Member CajunDude's home page, and he has a GREAT write up for swapping the rear carrier - that info is pretty much the same for swapping the Torue Converter
Mike Mercury also has a good Torque Converter swap write up
Thanks for the input mike mercury's site got me everything i needed. I actually replaced it today but got a 28 spline torque converter by mistake, that sucker wouldn't go in, i was able to get a 30 spline converter from a local shop that fit right in. Its a Remanufactured DACCO torque converter, i wonder how good that is.
i finished the job, i still have the same problem as i did with te other conveter i get a vibration around 3800 rpms, i am gonna go nuts after all that work i still have the same problem. I tried unbolting and rebolting the conveter in 2 other different positions and still the smae vibration> could this be a torque tube issue obiously two converters wont have the same problem.
I got the Dacco one for free -new remanufactured, i really just needed the vibration to go away i dont really need a high stall one.
