My headlights do not come up when the switch is turned on. About every other time the switch is turned on they'll come up. When this happens the lights do not come on either. I've checked the ground on the frame rail near the Alt. but it seems good (not loose, dirty, or broken). Any ideas? This is on a 98 M6.
If neither the lights come on AND the doors don't raise then the problem is in the switch in the stalk. The switch sends a signal to the bulbs and the door control circuit and is the common element between both.
If the lights come on but the doors don't raise, then the problem is limited to the headlight control module circuit (either a bad control module or a wiring issue).
Try spraying some cleaner into the switch (WD-40 may work as well). Otherwise the switch may need to be replaced.
