Default low oil level Im freakin out

99 frc 27k miles. I have had this car 3 weeks -- 500 miles All of a sudden the low oil level message comes on. I reset it but it comes back on in about 5-10 minutes. I am not sure but I think oil level on dip stick shows normal. I need to know where exactly is full mark on stick and what to do about low level message.

There is a horizontal line on the dipstick before the ripple bend in the dipstick. That is the full mark. That should tell you if there is some sensor problem or in fact that bitch is low....let us know..

There should be two small holes near the end of your dipstick. The upper hole is the full mark, the lower hole is the 1 quart low mark. When you are about 1 quart low, the "low oil" message is displayed. Yes, you can clear it by pressing the reset button, but it will reappear after a few minutes until the low oil condition is fixed.

Make sure the level is at the upper hole (remember to check after the car has been warmed up and sat turned off for about 30 min. - per the manual). If the level is ok, then you probably have a sensor problem. If the level is low, add oil until the level hits the top hole. Then, you should be able to clear the message and it won't reappear (until the level is low again anyway).

The dipstick is impossible to read.

Just add another Qt.

Exactly what I do. If the sensor says I need oil, I add oil...

It was about 1/4 inch below ripple bend.I added 1/2 qt and the message went away. Thanks for the advise.
