Why are you apologizing for the pic from the Galaxy S3? Photo quality on the S3 is amazingly good. However, glad to see you're not shy about digging into things, but that's a bit rough.

Any ideas, I put all new bulbs in the climate control. they light up nice and bright. The issue, they will not dim with the dimmer switch and will not go out after a period of time, like the other lights in the car.

Just finished doing the "fix" on this. Works great. About 1.5 hours start to finish. Changed my blinker relay while I was in there with the console pulled. Also worked like a champ. Was going to send the hvac controller to the ebay guy to fix. Glad I didn't. Now I have $50 extra to spend on bling...which we all know doesn't go very far.

I am going to fix mine this coming weekend. I did fixed my door lock issue by installing a new relay in the relay box that is inside the door panel this past weekend. Thanks to the information from the forumI was able to accomplish this task...

Thank you Sir..
I performed the repair this weekend and the display is now perfect.
I did find that I had to clamp the resistors down then solder them.
I attempted to solder the first one with out the clamp and it came right off the board after very little heat. I used a small clamp and I put a small cloth on the back side of the board so the clamp would not damage anything.
I did forget to let it self calibrate so I Had to disconnect it, plug it back in, and then let it do it's thing, then it worked perfect.
Thanks again for this thread.

Add me to the list of success stories. Had one move on me during soldering but i got it lined up pretty close and we are back to full brightness. Never soldered before and dont really plan on doing it again unless the display fades again
Thanks!
Thanks!

Believe me it works. A tip.... is to put a little weight on the capacitors to keep them from slipping when you solder them. Just touch up the solder joints and you should be good to go.

Awesome write-up. A huge thank you!! Worked great. Bonus: not only it is fixed, I got to break out my soldering iron that I haven't touched in a good 8-10 years. I was surprised that I even had solder around let alone remember how (but I guess it's like a bike... you just don't forget how).
Anyway, thank you!!
