i've only owned a c5 for a couple of months now and am still learning things about it. i have noticed that when i change lanes i get a weird feeling in the suspension. i have just wrote it off to the to crown in the pavement. i have let the sails out on it a couple of times and today i noticed that when i set the ponies loose i couldnt even keep it in my lane. i tried to blame it on the fm road and decided to take her out on the superslab which is really smooth here. i set her loose again and to my suprise it was the same. is the steering that sensitive on these cars or do i need an alignment, or should i be looking somewhere else for a problem? thanks
These cars are very sensitive to the crown or ruts in the pavement. Check your tire pressure. The torque can also cause the car to feel a little loose.

The stock run flat tires are well known for limited traction and darty charteristics due to their stiff side walls, especially if they have some miles/wear on them!
If you`ve ruled out alignment and other mechanical issues, then it`s probably the run flats.
Changing to non-run flats cured my car of the symptoms you describe.
Front end alignment can make the car darty. Have that checked first.
I use the advanced street settings from VandBP
Mine tracks straight as as arrow with no issues when I get on it.
my 98 did the same thing when i got it. it had wagonwheels and run-flats that still had some tread, but were well worn. at certain intersections in town, i would slooooow way down because the car would dart back and forth, almost into other lanes!!! scary. i bought some c6 wheels with brand new bfg kdw's from a forum member ($700 ) and the car is true as can be!! now the same intersections don't even make the car wobble.
C5 should feel like you are on rails. The handling should be crisp and effortless. Only time I ever had this issue was when I put too many miles on the EMT (run flat) tires. I went to non runflats for a while but found myself stranded because of a blow out. Amazing what 1400.00 worth of rubber can do.
My 97 did it from the day it was new until I modified the alignment settings to add just a little toe in Vs the 0 deg or toe out that is specified. Tire wear didn't have much to do with the hunting. Once the front end was toed in just a small amount all of the hunting and following of pavement seams went away.
