I tried lowering my Vette today following all the instructions from the various posts and tech tips. When I got my car up on jack stands, the rear spring bolt on the drivers side had 4-5 threads exposed and the passenger side had 7-8. So I brought the drivers side down to 2 threads showing and and the passenger side down to 5. (keep it level, right!). Well the rear stayed level, but only dropped down 1/8"?? I only did the rear suspension,
My car has the F45 syspension, has anyone else experienced this????
I'm not an expert on lowering, but I thought I read somewhere that you are not supposted to lower the F45 suspension car (that's what the Mid America catalog says).
Every car is different, and set differently at the factory. You will have to lower it as far as it will go, and if that is not enough, you must make modifications. I would go as low as you can, until the threads are just in the nut. Then stop.
EVERY car is different, in weight and tolerances, and there is no magic formula for how much you can drop any given car.
Take it for ride for about 15 or 20 minutes. Mine took a while to settle in. I notice that even after jacking up the rear and letting it down (without adjustments) it will be higher for a while until it finally settles in.

Here here! My car look slike a 4x4 after I get it off the jack. It still looks like one even when I get it off but that is soon to change.
Like Y2KHardtop said every car is a little different, and as far as lowering an F45 Car my F45 Car (prior to disabling it) was sitting at 25 7/8" adn 26 1/2 " with absolutely no problems. With the stock bolts you can lower the car down to a last thread showing on the bolts and if that is not low enough you can start cutting bushings and gain another 1/2- 1" lower. When I used the stock bolts I was just at 28" in the rear, then after driving a few drives and a few days the suspension settled and dropped another 1/4". I then went to the tractor shop and bought two 7" grade 8 bolts and used them in place of the stock bolts, they cost $9.00 vs the $40.00 most vendors are charging for a lowering kit (I am not blaming vendors,so don't blame me for being resourcfull). One last very important thing, after you have your ride height where you want it, get a four wheel alignment. If you don't believe you will need an alignment, start checking for excessive treadwear, if you have run flats you may start to notice grated rubber dust all over your rear fascia.
Re: Tried Lowering Vette Today And.... (Shinobi's97)
Shinobi's97,
Thanks for the info, after driving about 40 miles the rear setted in at 28" and the front at 27 1/2". It looks good!!! no more rake on the rear end, which I never liked. The car sits all most level and looks a whole lot better. As far as the alignment... I think I'll burn up the run flats and then replace with Goodyear SCs and a inflater kit,..... with an alignment too.
