Default nitto tires nt 555

anyone have experience with nitto tires nt 555?
wear tating of 300, how many miles to expect?
with a rating of 300, how good can the traction be???
so are these tires tourning or summer performance?
thanks in advance

I've been running NT 555's on my 1999 coupe since 2002 and I'm amazed at longevity and performance of these tires.

I changed the fronts this past year due to uneven tread wear on the inside (my fault; didn't have alignment checked like I should have) and they had 40K on them. They could have gone much further, but we were headed out on a long road trip to Canada and I didn't want to chance it!
I changed the right rear a couple years ago, when it developed a bubble in the sidewall (my fault again, I pinched it when I brushed a curb)
The left rear tire is still have one of the four original tires, and it's got at least 8-10K more miles worth of tread on it.
Of course all this depends upon how you drive..... I drive fast but I don't do burn outs, or abuse the tires unnecessarily.
I run the tire pressure at 30PSI (cold) and monitor the tire pressure religiously..

The only thing I've noticed about the Nitto's is that they seem to have real thin sidewall rubber and I base that upon experience.

The incident where I pinched the rear tire: It wasn't a full dead on hit against a curb, it was the descending edge of a drive way entrance to a gas station. I felt it hit but barely... I was surprised when I saw the sidewall had been scuffed so hard as to crearte a bubble.

You will experience sidewall flex if the tire pressure is below 30PSI when driving hard on curvy roads...

TO sum it all up, great longevity, quiet ride, good traction wet or dry....
a great tire at a very resonable price.

Good luck....

they lasted alot longer than the 555r tire, i got alot of miles out of my set & they hooked decent for a stock or slight modified vette. anything over 350rwhp & there gonna go up in smoke 1st & 2nd are a waste .The r hooks better but they dont last as long.If u are going to the track twice a month i would get the 555r or the bfg drag radial

I'll be buying my 3rd set in about 3 months, 100k on my '99. I can expect 35k out of a set but they get real slick after 25k on the hot roads here in Florida.
