Also make sure that you click it multiple times when putting the cap back on, it's made to do so and will ensure proper tightness.
I had a buddy that thought his cap was broken cause it was clicking, so he wouldn't tighten it very much - what do ya know he was getting Evap System check engine codes. Talked him into clicking it and the problem never came back...
