Default headlight and seat question

i'm looking at buying a 98 the seller said that the seat will move in all directions but forward..and the headlights when turned on one pops up fine put the other needs to be helped up some by hand. Are these major problems. The car has 84K and he's dropped the price to $16.5K

Thank you

Yes the car seems to be in good shape. Being that the seat will move in all other directions and he said you can hear the motor running I would assume it's not the motor. Would I be right to think that way?
The headlight...some have said it could be an adjustment or a gear replacement would that make sense?

Well if you are looking for a 1998 with 85K that needs no repairs then expect to pay more for it, so you pay either way.

The headlight could very likely just be a stripped gear, which is very common. If you have any mechanical ability (if you buy a vette you better have mechanical ability, or a lot of money) you can replace the gear with a brass one in a couple hours time.

The seat may just need the cradle, which can be found at GM Parts Direct, Fred Beans, etc. Once again the cost savings are going to be if you do the work yourself.

oh i understand that it's a 98 and may need something the reason I was thinking of walking away from this is because I live in Phila,PA. and the car is in Mobile Alabama and would have to be fixed even for me to drive it home .. at least the seat would be because the owner is much taller than I am.

I just bought the twin to your car. I also had headlight and dr seat problems. Seat cost nearly $1000 to fix---had to replace entire rack under the seat. Dealer told me you could not replace just one motor. Mine also would not move forward but was otherwise ok. My light problem was a shorted module and was a relatively easy fix. Since my first soaking at the dealership, I have decided to try to fix any future problems on my own, using the dealer as a last result. I gave $15k for mine and I love the car. What else can you drive that looks and drives like this car, for that kind of money??? 62k miles on mine.

Parts for both the seat and the headlight gear are available ebay often. You just got to keep looking. Getting a set of factory shop manuals for your Vette is the best investment you can make, ebay or Helms...
