HVAC Control Module Display...Cant See!!!

HVAC Control Module Display...Cant See!!!
HVAC Control Module Display has been getting dimmer and dimmer....today I cant see it at all....although all functions work.
Can the "display" part of the module be checked out and be repaired or as my GM Dealer tells me I must replace the complete module at a cost of $421.00.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you do a search you will find a lot of information about soldering some resistors. I followed the instructions and fixed mine in about half an hour.

Thanks....found plenty of information and it seems very do-able....have to get to Radio Shack for one of those cold solderer.

very easy fix!!!
Did mine a few months back. take yer time and relax be careful when you do the ones that are loose they will slide when you resolder them.
I agree with cliff_ford Radio Shak and some fine electonic solder a small pencil tip soldering iron and your all set
Use the $400.00 ya save on some cool new mods!!!
