Default LS2 Valley Tray Mod Question

anybody know when you do the LS2 valley tray mod on the early LS1, do you need to use a different PCV valve or will the stock 98 one work? I just put on a FAST intake with this mod and have oil all over the inside of my intake. I'm using an AMW catch can as well. Anybody have any insights or suggestions?

You can't run an LS2 valley pan one an LS1. You need to get an LS6 valley pan. There is a boss on the LS1 block on the passenger side about 1/3 of the way back from the front of the opening. You will need to cut that boss down about an inch for the LS6 pan to fit.

True story. This applies to all the earlier LS1s.

Thanks guys, I followed the LS1HowTo instructions to the letter when I did my mod. I know oil in our intakes has been a real common occurance, but it can't be helping anything that's for sure. I did a search and read up on all the threads on the catch can installs and re-design of the crankcase ventilation hose connections. It's just frustrating that there's not a better way to handle this issue.
Cheers,
John

Well ****.... I didnt pay attention to the post. I thought you were trying to swap valley covers.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read somewhere that they changed the valve itself in the later years. You can probably run down to Napa and pick one up. Although I doubt thats where your oil issue is stemming from. (Different valves that is.)
Have you tried running a catch can off of the fresh air vent that runs to the TB? That might be the source of the problem in your case.

Thanks Jeff. No. My catch can is inline with the PCV from the LS6 valley tray. I used the LS2 TB. I ended up connecting my fresh air supply to my air filter box before the MAF. Rick at Synergy didn't like taking it off the airbridge.

On another note, I wonder if higher compression engines suck more air through the PCV and therefore a lot more oil in the process. Maybe we need a pressure regulator inline with the PCV to limit the vacuum so it doesn't suck as much into the intake. Just talking through my hat right now, but this PCV system is really a marginal design
