Caliper swap???????'s
I am in the process of having forum member corvette pilot, thanks Mike, powdercoat a set of calipers and brackets for me, they are off a 2004 Coupe. Now I will be swapping out my current set for the new set and I would like to know the following;
I have now found the following, let me know what you think..............
1. I will be bleeding the brakes by myself. What are you using to pressurize the brake system, to push the new fluid through, when bleeding? Where was it bought from?
How about this one?

or
http://www.motiveproducts.com/02bleeders.html
2. What brand speed bleeders are forum members having success with? Where were they purchased?
How about these?
http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/spdbld.html
or
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...3&dept_id=1096
If I use the above brake fluid extractor do I even need speed bleeders?
3. How about a how too, to get the whole thing done as this will be my first time?
Is this about right?
-buy the pressure brake bleeder from Motive for GM cars.
-buy new brake fluid - Dot3/Dot4 - Valvoline Syn is good for street use
-raise back of car and take of wheels
-find bleeder valve - do not open yet (not sure of size wrench)
-open hood and remove old fluid from reservoir
-replace with new fluid
-put the pressure bleeder on the the reservoir and pump to 12-15lbs.
-make sure the pressure bleeder is not losing air
-go to bleeder valve and open until new fluid runs through.
-Close valve.
-Check reservoir to make sure you are not running out of fluid
-Check pressure to make sure you are not losing any
-continue to next tire

4. What order do you bleed in for a 2004? RR, LR, RF, LF. Is that correct? I saw that the order may haved changed for 2003 and up.
I don't know about a 2003 but I did find out that on a 2004 coupe it goes, RR, LF, LR, RF.
4. What brake fluid would you use to supply the system?
Dot3/Dot4 - Valvoline Syn is good for street use
Thanks for your information in advance,

2. I just opened the valves on the calipers. The pressurized system didn't require any pedal pumping.
3. Sounds good. I would put the car on 4 jack stands so I could bleed the system twice. I've heard comments amount not using Synthetic Brake fluid. I used fresh DOT3. I don't race and flush the system every year.
4. I'm not sure about the bleeding sequence. I think that it's R/R, L/R, R/F, L/F. Someone will chime in if I'm wrong.

2. Do not need speed bleeders.
3. Your steps look fine. The order looks correct as to what you say for an 04 coupe.
4. Valvoline Synthetic is just fine for the street.
If I am just bleeding off a bit off fluid from the caliper then I fill the reservoir and don't put any in the Motive jug. Makes less mess and wastes less fluid.
If you are doing a full system flush. Which you might as well do. Get the large bottle of Valvoline Synthetic. Or 2 of the small ones. Put it all in the Motive jug. Put the top on tight. Remove any fluid from the brake reservoir with your syringe. Then connect the Motive to your brake reservoir and pump up 10-15lbs of pressure. Now you won't have to keep on checking the reservoir because the Motive will feed it until it is empty. Go through the brake bleed order. When you are done go around 1 more time and bleed off a little bit to make sure you got all the air.
Then go road test it. Go easy until you are sure you have a firm pedal.
