Default GM performance plug wires

I'm looking to Install the GM Performance plug wires when I do the Heads and cam. I have found two versions and can't find anything about which is better. The only difference I can find is one is more expensive.

Part numbers:
12495519...cheaper set
89017270...more expensive set.

Anybody know the difference between them?

I have tried the magnecor and other related after market performance pkug wires and had problems. I have not tried the GM performance wires. I went back to the OEM standard plug wire and have never had any trouble. If you are still running the OEM coils I would save a few bucks and just run the standard OEM plug wires.

12495519 are the GMPP # from the 2007 catalog, I'm guessing the other number are the 2004 or LS2 oem's

That wasn't my experience. I swithed the the GMPP red wires a few years ago....buth changed back when I measured the resistence of the red wires vs the stock. The stock had much lower resistence. I know that in a high voltage wire resistence isn't the only factor that determines performance...but it is a good indicator. IMHO the wires are so short on these cars that the only reason to switch is if you want a different color wire....I have not seen anyone that has claimed (with a straight face) that they got better performance with a non stock wire.

Heat over years kills wires...................dyno graphs and perfomance in the 1/4 don't lie..........it was time for wires on our 2000s and 97. Stainless shortie headers put off much more heat to the wires vs coated long tubes....when you go to pull the wires off correctly and the wire comes off the boot end by unraveling, its time for new .....OEM is fine, but not worth the EXTRA $$$ vs GMPP
We race all 3 of ours hard, so they see heat all the time
New wires only give better performance when you are replacing bad ones
