Need help with Euro Headlamp install

I just got my Euro headlamps and was referencing the Helms manual on the procedure. Is it really necessary to remove the brake duct and the whole headlamp assembly in order to replace the lamp? Thre are two different procedures listed in the manual that appear to do the same thing but in two different ways. One is the "Headlamp Replacement" on page 8-173. The other is the "Headlamp Capsule Replacement" on page 8-178. The capsule replacement seems easier but i want to do it right.

Just take off the black surrounds, remove the painted headlamp covers and disassemble from there. No need for major surgery.

Yes, but what I am concerned with is the actual removal of the housing. the wiring part is easy. :D
