I recently purchased a 2004 C5 12 days ago and I am having issues already. The service traction control, service active handling and low fuel are on after about 8 miles of driving and at 180* engine temp. Well today, I was trying to move it back in the garage and the car will turnover but wont stay running. The only thing I did was move both the seats. The battery was checked and it check out good. Just the charge was a little low. My question is? Could all these problems be from a bad battery. Or is there something under one the seats thats ties the modules together. By the way this car has 7800 miles to date and is going to the dealer on Monday for waranty work for the TCS problem if I can get it started.

The car's need for electrical power is well documented. The odder the issues especially when there are multiple issues start with the battery. The battery is not always the answer but it has been at issue.
This morning I went to pull the codes and got the following codes:
PCM 1626h
TCS U1016h, U1000h
RTD U100h
BCM U1255h, U1016h
SDM U1000h, U1016h
LDCM U1016h
RDCM U1016h
SCM U1016h
RFA U1000h, U1016h
After checking the codes I tried starting it and TATDA! It started right up. Does this sound more like a bad ground contact or a battery problem? I know from working on helicopters all my adult life that a bad ground contact can cause all kinds of problems. Thanks for the help.
Place the key in the on position, without engine running. Hold the options button and press the fuel button four times. The codes will then come up in auto mode then manual mode.

the "h" in all those codes means history, there would be a "c" if they were current issues in the system. I would try a diff. battery and see if they go away. Also you could be right about the grounds but with the milage being so low I would lean towards the battery being the problem.

I am betting that the PCM1626 "Theft Deterrent System Fuel Enable Circuit" is the culprit for it not starting.
Get a good charge on the battery (or a new one - make sure it's a spill-proof gel type battery), clear the codes, and clean up all the grounds that you can find. Also take out the battery and tray then look underneath, see if there is a good deal of corrosion of any indication that the battery may have leaked (very common on these cars).
Thanks for the info again. I cleared the codes once before and they came right back the next day. I also cleaned the two ground clusters under the hood. All the codes seem to getting fewer, the PCM 1626 code pops up everytime.
We had pulled out the stock seats and tried to check the fit of a set of Corbeau's. I know on the 2001 you can pull seat connection and the car runs fine.
Check your connections under the drivers seat. Since you said you moved seats and had problem.
I tend to agree with the battery theory, when the battery gets low they can act crazy. If the vehicle is still under GM warranty and an 04 should be the warranty will cover the battery. Don't let them try to make you purchase one. The 3/36 warranty covers the battery also.
