Z06 trans reliability questions?
The delimma I'm having is that almost everything on this car is modified. The engine is fully built, it makes north of 600whp but the transmission is almost bone stock. Only thing modified is the clutch & rear.
Are these tranny's that beefy? I will be mostly drag racing the car and doing some road courses so at what power level does the z06 MN12trans start to become the weak link in the drivetrain? and what is usually the first thing to go?
I've always been a minimalist when it comes to performance, what I mean by that is I like to go as fast as I can with the least amount of mods done. I prefer to be able to use all the power I have available to get me down the track quickly before adding anymore. Buying this car would be a step in the other direction from what I'm used to. This makes we wonder if I should just be looking for a bone stock Z to start off with and learn from there, rather then just jumping in with both feet into a car that has so much power.
Thanks in advance for the input.
The car has a dynotech diff brace as well as their 300m output shaft. I plan to drag race the wheels off the car, so I'm wondering at 600+ whp what is usually the first thing to go?

Even a stock C5 will need an oil cooler for road course duty, unless you only want to run 10 laps.If the Procharger is the kit with the single fan w/ integrated air filter, I'd pass.
The C5 is not a dragster. If you try to make it one, things WILL break.
For me the fun is in doing the mods myself, but if the car is right and the price is right, go for it!

All my other cars have been built by me as they were bought bone stock. That is a fun process but it gets old working on the cars in the garage all weekend. I've already been there and done that.
While I still have some vehicles I wrench on but I'm at a point in my life where I want to spend the time doing what I enjoy the most which is actually driving the car, not working on it anymore.
Anyways to get back on topic this car will be performing double duty as a drag racer and road course car. I understand things are going to break while racing, especially at this power level, I just want to know what is going to be the first thing to go...
