I have always used a toothbrush and fuel injector cleaner or seafoam on throttle bodies and butterfly valves. Make sure that you don't spray an excessive amount of cleaner through the throttle body - if it runs into the intake and pools in a cylinder it can hydrolock and bend a rod. After some good scrubbing on on the throttle body and both sides of the butterfly valve, wipe clean all the surfaces you can reach. Start the car and then slowly spray some additional cleaner onto the edges of the butterfly valve. Make sure somebody is working the throttle for you cause it's gonna buck and sputter while burning off the cleaner.

As far as the MAF goes, you should be able to use the same fuel injector cleaner in a spray form - make sure you don't get too rough with the sensor wires.

I have to admit I have never done this on a vette, and the last step of the throttle body clean may not work if the MAF isn't reading any air flow (since you would have it disconnected so you can spray directly into the throttle body). You may want to wait for a couple other replies to make sure I haven't reccommended anything detramental to a LSx motor - flame suit on just in case...

It is easy to remove the throttle body to clean it. Get a new gasket for it first. Use air intake cleaner, these are much better than the old carburetor cleaners.

If you live in a warm climate you could install a throttle body coolant bypass tube at the same time. It gains a little HP.

I would leave the MAF alone, they are very delicate. If you use a oiled cloth (K&N) filter, you could spray it with intake cleaner a couple of times and let it air dry.

On the MAF I always use CRC electrical contact cleaner.
CRC now make a MAF cleaner also but they seem the same.
Anything else such as carb cleaner or brake cleaner can leave a film in the MAF wires and mess with the reading.

Its not hard, just don't spray them up close. 9" to 1 foot away should be good.
