Default very small leak or is it.

After driving my 01 for a short time then When I cheak under the hood I can smell radiator water. It was hard to find but I notice a very small amont of rusty water on the cross member on the passenger side of the engine just behind the airconditioner.on the cross member thier is a electrical connection on the frame cross member. My water level is ok but I cant figure out where this is coming from.Any Ideas.I have a warranty and will be taking down to GM tomorrow.Thank you for your help.

You probably need to let the car fully cool, start it and look right away. You probably only have a leak until things expand and that plugs it, so it's only when it first starts up. I have seen this before where hose connections are. Good luck!! Dan

You should not be seeing any "rusty" water if you have coolant in the system. Are you seeing the Dexcool orange, or actual rusty water?
If you don't have coolant in the system, that could be part of the problem.

If you are smelling coolant, check to make sure your radiator tank cap is holding pressure, and there is not any fluid deposits around the weep hole on the water pump.

It is probably the seal on the front of water pump. Hard to see, hard to get to, behind the pully, but if you wipe it with your finger you can prove if it is coming from there.

Also, you have low or no pressure on the system when the car is cold and just started. When it is fully warmed up you have full pressure on the coolant and the leak will be seen.
