Hi all, i'm a noob so be gentle...
I've done a search and i've come to the conclusion that the general consensus is that the stock 12 disc cd changer is pretty troublesome to say the least. I have also read the opinion that an iPod is the way to go, but humor me please. Maybe someone out there has experienced the same problem i'm having and has a miracle fix where i don't have to spend a couple hundred bucks to fix some outdated technology.
That having been said...my player is only playing the first cd in the cartridge, anything after that is coming up with an error on my HU. When it cycles through the rest of the cds it sounds as if its hangin up somehow. I've already tried cleaning it manually and with a cd cleaning disc. I've tried unplugging and plugging, cd's i've created and pre recorded cd's. None of the cds remain in the player when i remove the cart. Any suggestion will be entertained. (go easy guys.)
If nothing else can be done Is there a cd changer alternative that works with the stock HU?
You'll probably get better responses if you post this in "Audio and Electronics" which is found in the "General Corvette" area of these forums. The stereo "nuts" over there will give you an "earful"
I've had my '99 for many years, original owner. I've found that when you insert the cartridge into the multidisk player, you must wait for it to complete the full loading process. It individually looks at or lets say, registers the disks to the head unit. If you start the car, while this process is still going on, you will get an error and will have to start the process all over. You can start the car first, then insert the disk pack and when its done, it will be ready to play. Just know that it loads each disk, one at a time to make sure its the right type or whatever its doing it for...but you will get an error if the process does not complete.
