Default Question about replacement shocks

I have a 2001 coupe with Z51 suspension. It has 61,000 miles and is my daily driver. I never take it to the track, but I do sometimes do cross country rallys.

I am looking to replace the OEM shocks with Bilstein, but am not sure which would be a better replacement...the Bilstein HD or the Bilstein sport, particularly since I have the Z51 suspension. I am not sure this even matters. If I had my preference, and it would not adversely affect the Z51 package, I would prefer comfort over track-like performace.

The last factor I should mention is that I live in Texas and the roads where I live are probably the worst in the state.

Thanks for any input you all can provide.

I have a '97 C5 and installed ZO6 sway bars and Bilstein Sport shocks. The SB made handling great on tight turns. But the Bilstein gave the car a harder ride i.e. train tracks, pothole and speed bumps. The wife doesn't like the harsh ride. So I'm swapping the Sport shocks for the Bilstein HD shocks. I read they ride softer but still stabilizes the ride a little firmer than the OEM shocks.
So I hope this helps you in your decision.
Good luck,

Thanks SLPRC5, I was already leaning towards the HD's, and your post adds to what I have already suspected on the sport shocks...I will be moving to Houston in just over a year but for right now in West Texas these roads are just beating me (and the car) to death.

Default Bilstein HD

I waited until around 61K to also change out my shocks on my 1999 coupe. I'm glad the I didn't go with the Bilstein Sports, as the HD's are plenty firm!! I'm glad I got rid of the runflats long ago as those tires with either sets of Bilsteins, might have made for an uncomfortable ride over bumpy roads..
The ride with the HD's is firm, but not rough!

I have the SPORTS ...... but you only need them if you are lowered past stock adjustability.
