Default Throttle Body Upgrade Questions

Is it worth the money to upgrade a stock 78mm TB. Will I notice a performance difference putting on an 80mm or even a 90mm TB with a stock engine with a lot of bolt on's.

No, not on an otherwise stock motor. Spend the $$ on a good cold air intake and/or headers.

By the way, stock size is 75 mm at the throat. Aftermarket billet 78mm and 80 mm TBs will fit the stock LS1/LS6 intake manifolds. Any bigger and you need an aftermarket intake manifold.

If you feel you need to get better TB flow go with porting your existing stocker. Like said above, Shaner does a good job, you can also do it yourself, not that difficult.

Jusy my .02.

LT headers and ls6 intake and after market halltech cold intake already done, i'm just looking for a better throttle responce. car dynoed at 348.8 at the wheels. plus mark gave me a great deal....

Asuming thats SAE corrected thats good power for just intake and headers. By all means go for the ported TB, you will get some power gain and based on my limited experience, better throttle response.

For what it's worth, bored to death last winter, I replaced my ported stock TB with a Callaway 78 mm billet TB, along with a MTI Racing composit MAFS and Callaway Honker CAI (replaced vette doctors pro-flo + CAI). Gained basically nothing on the dyno from the old set-up although throttle response does seem much sharper.

Given the $650 price tag for the Callaway, porting the stocker seems like the smart way to go.

Now if you're like many of us here you're prbly looking at H/C packages and ----------

Anyway, good luck with the TB.
