Default C5 hood liner removal?

I own a 99 FRC and want to apply a cross flag emblem on the inside hood insulation. How do the pins come out? I fear that the pins will
break and I will not be able to get the liner back in. Any advice on this subject? Scott

They will come out.

I would recommend the being at least warm (not freezing cold!) and using a fork of some kind (I used a meat fork) gently ease them up. You may damage one or two but replacements can be had at AutoZone in the "HELP" section.

Good luck

You can use a body plug removal tool, a meat fork, a weed puller, the claws of a claw hammer. basically any metal object with a 'V' notch.
You might even be able to pull them out by hand.

ACE or TRUE VALUE also sell the same type black plastic retainers in the fastener department. The price is surely cheaper than from a dealer.

Glad to know they will come out fairly easily. As far as going back in...do you push them back in until they lock? Thanks, Scott

If the raised ribs get damaged from the removal, they may not stay in place as well...that's the importance of using the correct tool. I use a door panel removal tool to remove them. You can find an inexpensive version at your favorite auto parts supplier.

Thanks for the picture, that's the type of tool I thought you'd use for removal. It just seems like sometimes these simple projects are the ones that can cause you the most grief...for me anyway!

If you have some 1" wide x 1/8" thick flat stock steel (ACE or TRUE VALUE), you could make your own tool with some patience and a grinder or files...you can never have enough tools...
