Just as the title says. Looking to install a torque converter, without sacrificing the street ability of this vehicle. I've already added 3.42 gears , Lt headers air intake, looking to get a little more. The vehicle is 90% of the time street driving so would like to keep it street able. Suggestions?
I know most wish they had gone bigger no matter what they pick. I ran a 3200 that I drove every day. The only thing I didnt like about it was the tire bill.
I run a Yank 3500 on the street and it is no longer noticeable to me. As long as you keep your foot out of it gas mileage is about the same as a stocker.

Go with at least a 3200. With the 3.42's it wont be bad at all.
I had a 3200 with 2.73's a few years ago and it was great. Still got good mileage and I could launch the hell out of that thing on the street with bfg dr's. The converter also took .5 off my 1/4. as an added bonus.
Been struggling with this queestion myself. Doing a h/c in the next month, and a 3200 has been recommended to me. I'm a DD and spend all my time (well, almost all my time ) below 3500 rpm. I keep hearing bigger is better, but worry a 3200 may be a bit too big (too much slippage???).

I live in your area and would be glad to let you drive my vert. It has a SS3600 TC with 3.73 gears. I have let several members of this forum drive my car and every one has gone with the SS3600 TC. I met you several years ago at Ubly dragway. I don't know if you remember me. My car will be back on the road in March. Let me know if you want to drive it. I am sure you will love the SS3600 TC.
basically because you've got more to "push" the car with. it's not the H/C but the additional rwhp that justifys the higher stall.
No, it's to keep the motor in it's powerband. A lot of times you lose a little bottom end with a larger cam and ported heads, so a higher stall will keep the motor where it makes the most power.
If you plan on keeping the stock heads and cam, go with a 3200, heads and cam, at least a 3600. Both will be fine with 3.42 rear gears.

Yes I do remember you and your beautiful Red Vert, I had my Hayabusa at the track that day. Check your PM
Well as you know I say go 3200-3600 but you'll see when you drive a stalled car that the drivability really isn't different at all after a day or two. Can't wait to hit the track.
I've only had the Yank since November, but I love it. Much better outta the hole, my only problem now is too much tire spin. Your rear tire "bill" will go up! But worth half a second in the 1/4 mile, no doubt. Don't even notice it in daily driving anymore.
