Please tell me you're putting the hitch on your truck to pull a trailer with your corvette on it! In fact, I think it is against D.O.T. regs to put a trailer hitch on a vette.
I have installed a Drawtite hitch to tow a tire trailer to track events. Looking for help on installing the wiring harness.
1) Where is the best spot to tie into the turn, brake and tail lights?
2) Any tips on where to snake wires and how?
Thanks
I just went to the local auto parts store and got a 4 pin trailer harness with a 6ft cable lead. Then routed the wiring through a hole above the liscense plate and can easily stash it out of the way.
I hope that there wasn't any offense taken to my poor attempt at a joke. I think you could use JoeyG's idea on the universal harness and even run it on top of the hitch itself. You could always zip tie it up when not in use or if you wanted to remove the hitch itself. Another idea is to install simple connectors onto the attachment wires so you could easily remove the wiring harness completely when not in use or while at the track.
As far as I can remember, a universal harness should connect to your existing brake/tailight feeds with simple splice connectors (no cutting required). The directions included with the harness should tell you where to connect, you may at most need an inexpensive test light or multimeter.

I don't know where you got such an idea. Drawtite would never make a hitch for a car if it were against D.O.T. regs. A lot of people do this especially one going long distance in a Convertible.
Anyone have wiring schematics? I tried looking at my GM shop manual and they show a yellow and dk green wire but I couldn't find voltage on those when my tailights were illuminated.....still digging.

Those I believe are the turn signals the brown usually is for running lights.
I think I've got some pictures at home. The brown one is you brake lights, green and yellow are the turn signals. and there is a ground on the left side of the frame about 1' infront of where the mufflers are. I just pulled the connector through the hole above the licence plate and stuff it back in when I'm not pulling.
