Hey guys, if your having problems getting the bushings out you are doing it wrong! I can change an entire set of C5 bushings in under 15 minutes and never break a sweat. Assuming the control arms are off the car already.
Here is a link (with some video) to my Vette Brakes & Products (VBP) polyurethane bushing install on my 2001 Z06 Corvette which shows how easy it really is to pop out those old bushings.
By the way, if anyone is planning on doing this, buy a kit with all the hardware so you don't have to tear the centers out of your old bushings, that is a real pain in the a.. It is just not worth the work! Pay the extra and buy a complete kit, you will be glad you did! I think the VBP kit is a very nice kit. Be sure to tell them your a Corvette forum member, they will give you a little discount, I found that out shortly AFTER I finished my install!

The one place they are needed is lower front, as those tend to extrude with track time.
Getting the old bushing out is a major pain in in the ***.
The upper front is the worst. There is like nothing to keep the bushing inside the control arm. Under heavy use they just slide out and the control are hits the metal pivot. In the photo below half of those lips on the lower factory bushings are inside the control arm so they don't hold much. Under load those lips will just push into that big gap before the pivot allowing the control are slides right off. But the VBP bushing on top has that large block of bushing outside the control are so there is no way it can slide out.
I was amazed how soft the factory gushings were on these cars! And no, I didn't misspell bushings!

I saw someones vette the other day with poly's. He tapped a zirk fitting into the bushing locations so he could lube them. Don't know if it was the safest of installs, but he does say it eliminated all squeek.
