Does anyone here have the new part # for the TB's on 2001 C5's. I have the Whistling problem and am taking the car in before i put her away for the winter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Culater, I believe the whistling is caused by an open cavity in the intake plenum and not the TB. They supposedly fixed it for '02 by sealing off the small cavity (or filled in...not sure). Anyway...no more whistling (supposedly) on the '02s.
I called Chevrolet Customer Service to see if they could take some action on the manifold replacement for the whistling problem. Chevy Cust. Service called my local dealer to see if they were aware of the problem. My dealer is supposed to call me back to discuss, but I think they will probably plead ignorance as they have done all along. Until GM issues a TSB on this legitimate deficiency, we will have to wait or fix it ourselves. To my knowledge, the only C5 owner to have this repaired correctly by the dealer, is Forum member gkc501. I'm not giving up. The whistling is extremely annoying. I am concerned about the dealer's ability to repair this without screwing something else up. Changing a manifold should be a fairly simple job. Good luck and keep us posted.
Mine whistles sometimes when I open up the throttle. Depends on engine speed, acceleration. As long as it doesn't whistle all the time, I don't care! ;)
Culater, not sure about a TSB...I thought there might be one out...especially since there were quite a few '01 owners complaining about it. I hear it sometimes in very cool weather....but I don't normally drive around at 2,200 RPMs steady (I go to a higher gear and cruise around 1,800 RPMs). Keep checking I'm pretty sure that some '01 owners did get theirs replaced on waranty. :yesnod:
