Default Questions....

2 quick questions. My passenger power window isn't working, and to be honest I think I just tried it for the first time the other day (I bought the car a few months back). Is there some computer setting that could've thrown it out of wack, or is it simply broken?

Also, whenever I turn the heat on the A/C light automatically goes on, and I have to shut it to avoid having the compressor run. Is there any way of simply turning the vent on with the climate control at say 85-90 degrees without the A/C turning on as well? Thanks.

The window could be the door control module.

The AC is normal. The Auto setting makes all the adjustments according to the temp, light (sensor in the top of the dash) etc. It will use the AC as it sees fit. Common complaint, but I have heard more nightmares when people leave there compressors off all winter.

The "freon" has an oil in it, if you just let the AC sit "off" all winter the oil is not going through the system, and it allows all the rubber seals to dry out.

Knock on wood, I have never had an AC motor go, But I have had leaks from living in the NE area and leaving the AC off all winter. Even my 03' Trailblazer runs the AC in the winter for defrost and an evap.

There's been a few threads about pass. windows that don't work.. cuz they never get used. Supposedly banging on the door while pushing the button jars them loose (or the operator) and they start working again.

If you have any trouble with the pass. door lock as well, check the connections in the accordian boot. some suspect wires in there, some times.

A few months ago my passenger window stopped working. I tried the "CF suggestion" of opening the door, hold the window down button down, take your fist and pound fairly hard on the door in the vicinity of the actuator. It took ~8 - 10 wacks to get it to work!! Gotta love the "Fonzi" method.

I just did this write up over in the C5 General section. It may help with your window problems. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1606865
