A few weeks ago, I asked the question on the forum about codes PO171and PO 174 Fuel Trim System Lean - - - A couple of good responses from forum members. Took the car to repair shop and they found a vacuum leak in the PCV hose assembly. They replaced at cost of 127.42for assy plus labor and diagnosis of 200.00. This also included service of MAF and throttle body. Now no more 171 and 174 codes being thrown and car passed state inspection. Car is 2001 coupe with 116,000miles.

I saw a friend's 03 Z06 throw those same codes on his very first time trying his car at the drag strip last summer. He hit the rev limiter HARD and didn't even know what what was going on (inexperience)
He came back to the staging lanes with the Check Engine light on. We checked the codes and he was showing those same lean codes. Obviously the car leaned out when he banged the rev limiter....
I did the reset procedure many, many times and the codes would display again after about 50 - 60 miles of driving. After first reset the DIC would display the codes as history. In Texas, if the codes display a history code, the car will fail inspection according to my mechanic. I have a 60 mile round trip from home to shop and was averaging 21 mpg.
Today, after picking up the car I reset fuel display to Zero, and on my trip home, I averaged between 26.9 and 27 mpg. I guess time will tell if I'm truly getting better gas mileage. I'm sure getting the MAF and throttle body serviced helped as well.
Thanks
