I am building a 383 with an Eagle Forged Crank. I went to tap in my NEW GM factory pilot bearing and it just slides in easily when i turn it in there the bearing turns on the inside of the crank ...it isn't a tight fit? Whats the problem?
thanks chris i will be doing this in the morning...i'll keep everyone posted
So I called Eagle yesterday and they said the only way to fix the problem was to put a knurled pilot bearing in...SoOoOoOo they are going to ship me one out FREE of charge...Great customer service !

I wouldn't be to happy with that solution as the next time you need a pilot bearing where are you going to get one from.
Knurling the pilot bearing, means that they pull on the outside of the metal case to close the gap tolerance (i.e. your crank was out of spec and should have been trashed).
I would expect a new crank from them at the very least.
^^^ I agree... it sounds like they screwed up, ended up with cranks with I.D.s that are too big. The cheap solution is to take stock bearings and knurl it. The RIGHT solution is to recall the cranks and send out ones that have the correct crank I.D. so a STOCK bearing fits correctly.
