Default What should I do?!

Hey guys, I have a dilemma. Well, not really but here it goes. I have a 2002 Corvette. I am doing two performance mods this winter for the summer. I just can't decide what to do, and what I will like the best. As of right now I have a SLP Loudmouth Exhaust and a Raptor XXL Intake. I am stuck between these four mods, and I can only afford two. I am either going to do a whole cam swap with the cam specs just like the TSP Torquer V2 cam along with all the goodies like the underdrive pulley, timing chain, springs, etc... and I was also going to get the Texas Speed Headers with 3" X Pipe, along with the tune. Or, considering I still have 2.73 gears in my car I was going to do a 3.42 Differential and a 3200 Stall converter with a tune. Which mods would you do, the cam and headers? Or the gears and TC? Give me all your opinions!!

Am I going to be limited with the power because I have the 2.73 gears?

Not me-I would definitely do the differential and converter first. I think ousting the 2.73 is the first big need

Lol, now I am going to need to give this some thought. Open to more opinions or experiences.

Well for one, a tune for that Torquer, will be fighting the low stall rating of your stock converter, and drive like crud! You will have to hold the car still with the brakes at a light to keep it alive. Basically on an A4 car the TC should be the first mod to put power to the ground, since it will be there to compliment the later mods.

My wife's Camaro SS is an A4 with Heads/Cam/Intake/Exhaust/Suspension and a 3400/2.2 STR converter. It gets pretty great gas mileage for a ~450 rwhp car, and the driveability with the TC is extremely fun!

EDIT: Also the TC and gears will be a huge difference, even more so IMHO, than a big cam on the stock TC/gears.

Gears and TC first. It will be a massive improvement and will compliment the H/C package down the road.

Do the gears and hi-stall first.

I would go with the gears and TC first and then do the cam and heads. I see you did find your Raptor XXL where did you locate it ? Good luck with the mods.

Thanks alot again everyone. I am now going to be doing 3.42 gears, and a 3200 stall fuddle racing TC. I got the raptor from a buddy of mine, for a great price.

gears alone (and especially with a high stall TC) will give SOTP fun at any speed - at any RPM - in any gear... without stressing any stock parts still on the car; except the tires
